The second edit of American Circumcision is done.
We’ve taken the film from 5 hours to 3 hours.
(Yes – we edited a movie out of our movie.)
While three hours is an acceptable runtime for a feature-length film, and there are easily that many hours of fascinating footage, our goal is to make American Circumcision as tight as possible. We’ve probably got at least one more edit before we can start running test-screenings.
(That said, if you want the extra footage, there will likely be at least 8 hours of it in the special features – maybe more.)
I’ve shared very little publicly about the film, because early in the process, several potential interview subjects told me they wouldn’t go on camera if I interviewed both sides. Keeping a low-profile was required in order to get what we’ve filmmed.
Now, interviews are done, and nearly EVERY major expert is in the film.
This will be the most comprehensive documentary on circumcision ever made. You will be able to show this film to someone with zero knowledge about the subject and make them an expert by the time the credits roll.
The next step for the film is to do one pick-up shoot, and edit a teaser trailer, which will likely be released sometime late September.
After that comes the third edit, test screenings, and the final post-production process. Once that pick-up shoot is done, expect to hear a LOT more about American Circumcision.
