American Circumcision is a feature-length documentary on circumcision in America, and the growing movement that says men should have the right to make their own choices about their bodies.

American Circumcision is my first feature-length documentary as director. It will be the most comprehensive documentary ever created on this subject, interviewing the foremost experts on both sides of the controversy.

Gab.ai is a new social network committed to free speech. The site promises to be free from censorship, and algorithm manipulation. A place where anyone can #SpeakFreely.

Though still in beta, the site just launched anti-harassment tools that are superior to Twitter & Facebook. While they won’t censor you, they will let you determine what content you see.

Who could benefit from a social network like this?

• People who’ve been to censored on other platforms
• People who’ve been harassed on other social networks and want better mute tools
• Bernie Sanders supporters who don’t want pro-Hillary algorithm manipulation
• Activists like Intactivists who don’t want to be censored for discussing taboo topics
• Moms who want to share breastfeeding photos without censorship
• Artists & businesses that want to reach their all fans without paying
• Anyone who holds controversial opinions
• Anyone who wants a social network where they can hear controversial opinions

Most of the current userbase comes from the group that feels most affected by social media censorship: Trump supporters – but that could change. If any community in the above list adopts Gab as their social media of choice they have the potential to rise through the network and become influencers.

Every successful social media platform has produced stars – YouTube, Twitter, Vine. Gab as the same potential. Growing a social network is a long-term move. Twitter was laughed at (“What can you say in 140 characters?”) till it became the dominant influencer in politics and elections. Gab may take years to grow its audience, but if we can get a social network committed to free speech, it’ll be worth it.

I’d encourage you to sign-up for the beta, and get your community to do the same. If you have a cause or group that isn’t given enough attention by the mainstream, this is an opportunity.

While I was with them, I screened the current edit of American Circumcision.

Got some good feedback. Overall, they really liked it, and agreed this film has the potential to make a huge impact.

The main note I got was although everything was interesting, some moments felt redundant, and others didn’t need to be in the main edit.

The film is currently 3 hours long, so it’s good news that we can edit more out. However, because the tangents are so interesting, we may break them off into four one-hour separate side documentaries.

So for example, there will be a segment on female circumcision in the film, and an even longer 45-60 minute side documentary just on that subject in the bonus features.

This is the first time I’m floating this idea, so don’t hold me to it.

There are forty minutes just on that subject in the first edit, and even more I left out. A general audience doesn’t need to go as deep on that aspect, but some audiences may be interested exploring just that part of the controversy.

I’ve got 4-6 segments in this film that could be their own documentary.

I wouldn’t start work on these bonus docs till the main one is done. Finishing American Circumcision is the main priority. But I’ve already got the footage to make them.

American Circumcision will be a clear concise overview of the the circumcision controversy that you could hand to a person who knows nothing about the subject and make them an expert by the time the credits roll.

This film is going to completely change our view of the subject.
