My Fiance And I: What We Love About Each Other

Brendon on Kristeena:

Kristeena understands me better than anyone I have ever known. She is kind, loving, and wise. She takes me as a part of herself and makes my needs a priority. We share our values around spirituality, children, and changing the world.

Kristeena will make a great mom and is already a great partner. She makes my life brighter every day. Some of my favorite sounds are when I hear her singing in the kitchen, or when she begins hopping between her feet saying “hun, hun, hun, hun” because she is so excited to share something with me.

Part of what makes our relationship great is the level of trust. Kristeena is a master of attunement. Sometimes I just say “tune in” and she will be able to know what I am feeling and give unconditional presence to it.

One of the first moments I knew I could trust Kristeena was when I got so sick I could not take care of myself. She went into my kitchen and came back with something I didn’t even know could be made with what I had. I was too tired to offer anything in return or even take care of myself, but she was giving and just wanted to take care of me because she loved me.

I think the reason Kristeena loves otters so much because is because she is like an otter. Otters are adorable and family-oriented. I have learned from Kristeena that otters sleep holding hands, and I think if she could, Kristeena would remain permanently cuddled against me.

Together, we have found a deep sense of intimacy and safety that we want to grow in for the rest of our lives.

Kristeena on Brendon:

I knew from the moment that I met Brendon that he was going to be the man that I married.

The connection was instant. It started over the phone and quickly transferred to meeting. Upon meeting I asked him if we were the same person. We showed up wearing the exact same thing.

He was kind, honest, and had a way of connecting to me that I have never really experienced. He gave me the presence that I needed to really be myself. He was always focused on how I felt. He made my feelings the most important thing. The “But I’m fine” or “ok, whatever you want let’s just do that” was met with a deeper dive into what I needed.

Brendon is the most determined person I’ve ever met. Nothing ever stops him whether it’s love, life or whatever he believes in. He is so forward-moving he can be hard to keep up with sometimes. He’s determined in his connection and love with me. If there’s something I want or need he’ll go literally to the end of the earth to find a way to get it for me.

Last year I was reminded of an alarm clock that I had from 1993. It was my favorite alarm clock growing up. I searched eBay, Amazon, and YouTube for it and I couldn’t find it anywhere. The only thing I found was a video of it playing the songs that it played whenever you would wake up.

When I heard the sounds, I had a big emotional reaction and didn’t realize how much I had missed it. He saw how sad I was that I didn’t have it and took it upon himself to enlist all of the Internet to find it. And he did just that, he found it for me.

He makes my needs and wants and desires his own. He has changed my life and giving me the room to be a better person to myself and to others. He’s going to make an amazing father one day. He’s going to show up in their lives as determined as he does mine.
